In December 1978, at the end of a Saturday afternoon, people in town could see a flying object across the sky, leaving multicolored misty fringes. The traces remained for more than one hour, persisting after night fall and then disappeared. In spite of altitude powerful winds, the wandering traces did not get altered. The amplitude and the persistence of the event could not allow any assimilation with the atmosphere entrance and its resultant disintegration of a lost rocket, satellite or space shuttle fragment. But are we allowed to consider this event as a real UFO case ?

As for me, I would prefer to consider this event, which could be seen from surrounding 400 km distant towns, as " signs in heaven ". Luke the apostle, wrote that there would be " signs in heaven " at the End of Times. Up to now, it's quite impossible to give any acceptable explanation to such phenomena whose " modus operandi " do not obey to commonly understandable criteria.

UFO recently seen over Clermont-Ferrand. According to many witnesses' opinions, the object " turned red " and took rainbow colors. This spectacle lasted for more than one hour and got many local and national press comments. It was officially admitted that it was an... unidentified rocket.

 

Then displayed on a double page (p 14 and 15), a panoramic sight at sunset, added to another night view, presented the same event, with following comments...

On a double page (p 14-15) a panoramic photo (1 + 2) shows the multicolored traces in the sky, at sunset, in the axis of the Puy de Dôme whose silhouette is easily recognizable for local people. Under this photo, just a few words : traces left by UFOs in heaven.

The gray scaled photo (2) hiding a part of this Puy de Dôme silhouette, presents: professor Alan Hyneck, ex NASA's director

photo (3)  : UFOs in heaven of Perpignan. However, the sky phenomenon is the same as described before. It could be observed from many towns such as Montluçon, Bordeaux, Perpignan... at a distance of a bird's 400 km long flight.

This photo has been given to me by a friend of mine.. This view has been taken from the Saint Jacques bridge, close to the Clermont-Ferrand Central Hospital, westwards in direction of the Puy de Dôme. The moon crescent can be seen on the left.Street lights can be seen, the light of the first one being mixed with the phenomenon.

Even if it looks like some kind of misinformation, I don't consider it as a " debunking " case.

In that particular case, I think that the expression " signs in heaven " is more suitable than the word " UFO ".
